KEYSER RIVER REHABILITATION

We were appointed by Afridev Consultants on behalf of the City of Cape Town: South Peninsula Administration to provide specialist hydrological and hydraulic input to a scoping study to investigate the widening and rehabilitation of the lower Keyser River.

Detailed hydraulic models of the river reach were established and the levels used to plot flood lines for various return periods and river widening scenarios.

It was found that the flows produced by the 1 in 50 year event lead to localised flooding of the adjacent residential area, irrespective of whether the river channel was widened or not.
